Clinical Nurse Consultant – Inpatient, Emergency and Residential Aged Care
NORFOLK ISLAND HEALTH AND RESIDENTIAL AGED CARE SERVICE (NIHRACS)

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Clinical Nurse Consultant to join our team in a remote island location. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide Clinical leadership to NIHRACS facility while embracing the values of Excellence, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork. The CNC will lead and support the nursing team at NIHRACS with a specific focus on aged care. The position will support best practice and ensure a safe environment for residents, patients and workers within the facility. There is an on-call component to this position.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Clinical Expertise:
•
Deliver advanced nursing care and consultation for complex cases.
•
Develop and implement care plans tailored to individual patient and resident needs.
•
Ensure evidence-based practices are followed in care provision.
2. Leadership and Collaboration:
•
Lead multidisciplinary teams to improve patient and resident outcomes.
•
Mentor and support nursing staff in professional development.
•
Facilitate communication between healthcare providers with patients and residents’ families.
3. Education and Training:
•
Educate patients, residents and families about health conditions and care plans.
•
Provide training sessions for staff on best practices and new protocols.
•
Promote continuous learning within the healthcare team.
4. Quality Improvement:
•
Be involved in the development of healthcare policies and procedures whilst benchmarking with appropriate similar organisations.
•
Monitor and evaluate clinical practices to ensure high standards of care.
•
Participate in audits and research to improve healthcare services, patient and resident outcomes.
•
Implement strategies to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
5. Emergency and Crisis Management:
•
Respond to medical emergencies with swift and effective care.
•
Coordinate care during crises, such as outbreaks in aged care facilities.
•
Participate in emergency readiness and response planning and activities.
6. Cultural Sensitivity and Advocacy:
•
Recognise and respect the cultural diversity of the community, adapting healthcare practices to meet the specific needs and preferences of patients.
•
Advocate for patient rights and access to quality care.
Selection Criteria:
•
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with relevant post graduate qualification.
•
Extensive experience as a Registered Nurse generalist and demonstrated leadership experience. Remote and rural experience across ED, Aged care and general nursing highly regarded.
•
Demonstrated ability to work in culturally diverse communities and adapt care approaches to the local population’s values, customs, and healthcare beliefs.
•
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment and adapt to changing needs and conditions in a remote setting.
Remuneration: CNC will be paid as NRG Grade 7 under the NIHRACS Enterprise Agreement. An indicative range of base remuneration is $5,081.09 to $5,516.58 Per fortnight. Superannuation and locality allowance will be applicable. Relocation allowance may be applicable.
