This week Norfolk Island welcomed Damien and Sammy from Clicking Bricks and Lego Masters Australia for four days of jam-packed Lego fun.
Our Holiday Wellbeing Program kids were treated to three days of exciting challenges. Across the week, the kids created everything from boats and dragons to a genuine archipe-Lego, with Damien and Sammy setting the task for teams to build an island. The results were incredible (and how they managed to keep all the kids wrapped up in the one task for so long, we’ll never know)! One of the sweetest compliments we had about the Lego Masters visit was from a parent, saying that their child, who hadn’t touched their Lego in ages, had pulled it back out of the cupboard this week and was spending every morning getting creative with blocks.
Each night of their visit, Damien and Sammy ran community events out of the Supper Room at Rawson Hall, where they set more challenging tasks for the teams. It was wonderful to see so many families coming out together and enjoying the opportunity to get creative together. Building Lego rockets, trucks, and beautiful 3D pictures using nothing but blocks, the winning teams from each night took home gift vouchers kindly donated and supported by Agnes Hain and The Bounty Centre. Judging by the thank you and farewell the kids gave to Damien and Sammy on Thursday, it’s safe to say they’ll never Lego of the fun they had this week.
NI-Connect is so grateful to Damien and Sammy for joining us at the Holiday Wellbeing Program and sharing their joy and enthusiasm for play and learning. A huge thanks goes out to all the businesses and groups that contributed to their stay, Castaway, Car Beat et, The Bounty Centre, Aloha Apartments, NI Rotary Club, The Lions Club of Norfolk Island, Burnt Pine Travel and Foodland and to the community of Norfolk Island for getting behind this exciting week of Lego fun!
