Celebrate Wear It Purple Day at Norfolk Island National Park!

16 August 2024

We're thrilled to announce that Norfolk Island National Park is celebrating Wear It Purple Day on the 30th of August for the second year running! 🌈

Wear It Purple Day is a day to celebrate, support and empower young people within the LGBTIQA+ community. As a member of the Parks Australia Pride Network, Allie Nance (Norfolk Island Park Ranger) saw huge potential in connecting the Wear It Purple celebration at Parks Australia with the school. So this year we’re shining a spotlight on the island's youth with a vibrant colouring competition.

If you’re under 18, you can pick up an entry form at the Discovery Centre in the Botanic Garden or from Norfolk Island Central School. The 2024 Wear It Purple theme is “Your Passion, Your Pride”, so whether it's with crayons, sequins, feathers or a full rainbow of colours, we want you to let your creativity soar!

Entries are open now and close on Friday, 23rd August. From Saturday, 24th August to Thursday, 29th August, we invite everyone in the community to drop by the Discovery Centre and vote for your favourite masterpiece.

We’ve got some fabulous prizes up for grabs, including The Bounty Centre gift vouchers:

🥇 1st Prize: $30 gift voucher

🥈 2nd Prize: $20 gift voucher

🥉 3rd Prize: $10 gift voucher

Let’s come together and show our pride, creativity, and support for the LGBTQI+ community. Wear your purple with pride and join us in celebrating diversity and inclusion! 💜
