Catamaran Great Circle

Kingston Pier was a busy place on Saturday morning, when many locals were heading our fishing on-board their boats, as the bay look silky calm even though there were passing light showers. When I drove downtown, I spotted a lovely yacht anchored in Sydney Bay, not far from the Kingston Pier. This catamaran was named Great Circle and when I checked out its details online, I guess you could describe it as a super yacht.

While checking out the internet sites, I found a video recording then sailors preparing to store the catamaran yacht Great Circle in Whangerei, in the Bay of Islands in Northland, New Zealand. After sailing the world for over a year, the crew organised repairs and maintenance checks then left their catamaran in a marina for a few months while they flew out of NZ, I expect to their home in Europe, planning to return three months later. Great Circle is registered under the Netherland and there are other YouTube links which give tours of the yacht and information about the journeys and places they have visited over the years.

On Sunday, I checked the shipping app and Great Circle had departed and was heading North, towards New Caledonia or Vanuatu. It was interesting to note that there were many yachts showing in the area, sailing North from New Zealand and heading towards Norfolk Island the Pacific Islands which lay to the North of our remote island.
