Thank you
I would like to thank everyone who helped me with the recent Norfolk Island bee pest and disease survey. It was a very successful visit (3rd – 16th December 2021), checking many beehives and collecting samples for testing at CSIRO.
The help and hospitality of Norfolk’s beekeepers, the Flora & Fauna Society and the Department of Agriculture, Water & Environment was fantastic and provided a clear picture of bee health across the Island.
The initial inspections showed hives were very healthy and enjoying the good flowering conditions. In the coming months, I will analyse the hive samples and plan for a second collection of samples in March 2022. I am aiming to have the final report of this survey prepared by the end of the year.
