Administrator’s 2024 Norfolk Island Australia Day Awards

16 November 2023

Nominations are sought for the Administrator’s 2024 Norfolk Island Australia Day Awards.

The Administrator’s Norfolk Island Australia Day Awards recognise those people in the Norfolk Island community whose service and contributions have made a significant difference to the community or a significant section of the community. They also recognise significant achievement by members of our community.

Nominations are sought for awards in the following categories:

Citizen of the Year Award

Young Citizen of the Year

Community Achievement

The Citizen and Young Citizen Awards recognise outstanding contributions to the Norfolk Island community. The Young Citizen Award is for persons up to 25 years of age as at 26 January 2024. The Citizen Award is for persons over that age.

The Community Achievement Award recognises significant achievement for which no other avenue of public acknowledgement exists and can be either an individual or a group nomination.

Nominations for these awards should be submitted to the Office of the Administrator in a sealed envelope marked “Australia Day Award Nomination”. Each nomination should include:

  • the nominator’s details;
  • the category in which the nomination is made;
  • an outline of how the nominee has made a significant contribution to our community or a significant achievement;
  • examples that show how the nominee has gone above and beyond what could reasonably be expected of someone in a similar position; and
  • two written references in support of the nomination.

All nominations are strictly confidential. The person being nominated should not be advised of their nomination or approached for information.

Nominations will be considered by a community panel. The Administrator will announce the Australia Day Awards at Government House on Australia Day January 2024.

Lodgement of nominations must be received by the Office of the Administrator by close of business, Wednesday 6 December 2023.

For further information contact the Office of the Administrator on phone 22152 or email office.administrator@infrastructure.gov.au.
