Nominations are sought for the Administrator’s 2023 Norfolk Island Australia Day Awards.
The Administrator’s Norfolk Island Australia Day Awards recognise those people in the Norfolk Island community whose service and contributions have made a significant difference to the community or a significant section of the community. They also recognise significant achievement by members of our community.
Nominations are sought for awards in the following categories:
The Citizen of the Year Award
The Young Citizen of the Year Award
The Community Achievement Award
The Sports Award
The Junior Sports Award
The Citizen and Young Citizen Awards recognise outstanding contributions to the Norfolk Island community. The Young Citizen Award is for persons up to 25 years of age as at 26 January 2023. The Citizen Award is for persons over that age.
The Sports Awards, in the same age categories, recognise:
Outstanding ability, contribution or participation
Achievement in a particular competition
The Community Achievement Award recognises significant achievement for which no other avenue of public acknowledgement exists.
Nominations for these awards should be submitted to the Office of the Administrator in a sealed envelope marked “Australia Day Award Nomination”. Each nomination should include:
All nominations are strictly confidential. The person being nominated should not be advised of their nomination or approached for information.
Nominations will be considered by a community panel. The Administrator will announce the Australia Day Awards at Government House on Australia Day January 2023.
Lodgement of nominations must be received by the Office of the Administrator by close of business, Wednesday 7 December 2022.
