Adam’s Painting – Semi Finalist

22 October 2021

Exciting news this week, Adam’s 2020 painting of “Mark Oats, The Fiddle Player” has been selected as a semi-finalist in the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize.

Adam Jauczius has entered four paintings in the Australian Archibald Art Awards, and this year he entered the 2020 painting of musician Mark Oats, in the Australian Doug Moran National Portrait Prize Awards, and this week this stunning artwork has been chosen as one of 151 semi-finalists in this art competition.

The Doug Moran National Portrait Prize is one of Australia’s largest art awards. I visited their web page and viewed many wonderful paintings and artwork from 2021 and previous competitions.

Moran Prizes

Doug Moran National Portrait Prize

Founded by Doug and Greta Moran and family in 1988, the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize (DMNPP) is an Australian portrait painting prize supporting Australian artists. The prize has encouraged both excellence and creativity in contemporary Australian portraiture by asking artists to interpret the look and personality of a chosen sitter, either unknown or well known.

With the first prize of one hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) it is Australia’s richest art prize.

The Moran Prizes are acquisitive, and the winning artworks immediately become the property of the Moran Arts Foundation, to be held and exhibited as part of the Moran Collection.

I feel very privileged to have viewed all four of Adam’s paintings he has entered in the Archibald portrait awards. They are painting of musicians, and music is another of Adam’s passions.
