Did you know that the Bounty Museum was built in 1916 with timber from the flooring of the Officers Quarters in Kingston and is one of the oldest retail buildings on Norfolk Island.
In its 106 year history it has served as a Blacksmiths, Fencing Contractor, Farrier, Leather and Saddlery, General Store, Car Yard and Motorcycle Showroom, Restaurant, Tea Room, Hardware Shop, Sailmaker and in 1978 it became the Bounty Museum.
The Bounty Museum Trust would like to thank the following Norfolk Island tradies and business for helping restore the Museum.
Wade the sparky, Koota and Simon the tilers, Trev the building inspector, the fabo staff from Christian Bailey Agency and Norfolk Island Building Supplies, Norfolk Island Industries who supplied our concrete, Andrew and staff from Island Plumbing (with a special shout-out to Anthony), Dussa for helping remove a lot of the old carpet and rubbish from the museum, Kiernan Agency, Norfolk Island Data Service, Duncan - Pest Control, Campbell the Plumber, Miriam the town planner, Vaughan the sign writer, Norfolk Island Regional Council staff, Brad the plumber, Christians Saw Mill for the timber, Michael and Aiddie the painters who did such a wonderful job on the front facade and last but not least our builder Jay Sanders and his four truly amazing carpenters Blake O'Hara, Jared Magri, Beau Rutledge & Kyran Randall who have worked tirelessly their work is beautiful - these guys are excellent craftsman, there were so many details and challenges and they managed to work through and handled them all.
The Museum Trust would like to thank all of the above for the renovation work that has been carried out.
We are ecstatic with the workmanship and detail put in and have received lots of positive comments.
