From 16 August: STORM BOY, a beautiful retelling of the classic Australian story starring Jai Courtney, Finn Little, Geoffrey Rush

Storm Boy has grown up to be Michael Kingley, a successful retired businessman and grandfather.  When Kingley starts to see images from his past that he can’t explain, he’s forced to remember his childhood growing up on an isolated coastline with his father.  He recounts to his granddaughter how, as a boy, he rescued and raised an extraordinary orphaned pelican, Mr Percival.  Their remarkable adventures and very special bond has a profound effect on all their lives. Rated PG

From 23 August:  HOTEL MUMBAI , a true life drama/thriller starring Dev Patel, Armie Hammer, Nazanin Boniadi, Tilda Cobham-Hervey

26 November 2008: a wave of devastating terrorist attacks through Mumbai catapulted the city into chaos.  The primary target of this attack was the renowned Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.

Based on true accounts of this terrifying assault, Hotel Mumbai brings together the guests and staff of the luxurious hotel, including new parents David and Zahra, a Russian businessman Vasili and newly promoted waiter Arjun, in a desperate fight for survival.  Rated MA15+

Stuck in an unsatisfying marriage and with teenage children who ignore her, 40-year-old Lisa Spinelli treads water by teaching kindergarten with quiet dispassion.  Everything changes when Lisa discovers that Jimmy, a five-year-old boy in her class, may be a gifted poet and sees him as a ticket out of her mundane life.  When Lisa presents some of Jimmy’s work at her poetry class as her own and receives praise from her teacher, her desire to mentor the child genius grows.  As fascination turns to obsession, Lisa spirals downward on a dangerous and desperate path to channel her unfulfilled creative dreams into the protégé.  Rated M
