We were back into golf again this week after a short break.  All golfers that played this weekend had the privilege of playing in a 2 day competition supported by great local sponsors.

The weekend started on Friday night, for those who attended and supported the opening night for the Castaway Hotel Bounty Open Tournament.  There were great pizzas made by our sponsors Tony, Sarah and Stella and everyone enjoyed the night which was a great start to the weekend ahead.

Competition Results:

Last Saturday’s golf was the Olive Café Monthly Medal and Lisner Trophy Round 6 sponsored by Naomi Thompson and Joanna Lisner, and also the first round of the Castaway Hotel Bounty Open Tournament sponsored by Tony, Sarah and Stella Watts.

Men’s Overall Gross 1st Matt Norton 157, 2nd David Magri 158

Ladies Overall Stableford 1st Honi Wilson on countback 66pts, 2nd Naomi Thompson 66pts, 3rd Caroline Miratana 58pts

Men’s Overall Stableford 1st Mat Kelly 78pts, 2nd Richard Cottle 75pts, 3rd Jared Magri 73pts, 4th Rory Brennan 71pts winning the countback over Arty and Clayton.

We all enjoyed cheese platters made up by our sponsors Tony, Sarah and Stella which went down very well and everyone is grateful for their generous support.

Results of the Wednesday competition - Individual 6 hole match play

A good day was had by all to trial a proposed new format for a tournament down the track, and sponsored by The Pro Shop.  Thanks to everyone who took part in the day.

Social Golf News:

Tony Wilkinson took out first place in the Norfolk Island Mechanical Chook Run on Friday.  Congratulations Tony.  A good round from Kayden Judd saw him take out first place in the Junior Choc Run this week, well done Kayden!    It’s great to see our regular Chook Runners and Juniors taking to the course on Fridays, even as the weather cools off.  Remember that everyone is always welcome to join in the fun.  Enquiries to the Pro Shop 23603.

What’s on this Week:

Today’s Golf is the Kev Wills Memorial Trophy Rd 3 – Canadian Foursomes

Tee off times are 8.30 am and 12.30 pm and players are asked to have their cards in to match committee no later than 15 mins prior to tee off.

Visiting golfers with an official club handicap are always welcome to come down and play.

Tuesday - Veterans Golf - 9 holes – 2.30 pm

Wednesday - Individual Stableford – 1 pm

Friday - N I Mechanical Chook Run - Very social 7 holes - 3pm

            AND Junior Choc Run - 4 Junior Holes - 4pm

Our Club is open Monday to Saturday from 11am and Sundays from 12pm.  Lunch and afternoon nibbles are available at ‘The Olive Branch’ Tuesday to Saturday from 10am-4pm. 

Enjoy fabulous golf course and ocean views while sampling something from The Olive Branch’s menu, which changes regularly to take advantage of our fantastic local produce. 

Tea, coffee and gourmet cheese plates are available every day along with a great selection of beer, wine, cider, pre-mixed drinks and spirits.
