Kim Davies is a long time Norfolk Islander; he has only lived off Island for a short stint when studying Frontline Management at NSW University, returning to Norfolk Island then saw Kim as Manager of Norfolk Telecom for some twenty seven years, one of his first jobs was at the Sirius Car Sales. Recent years have seen Kim change careers and is currently Manager at the Norfolk Island Leagues Club, since a very young age Kim has been involved in the musical entertainment circa of Norfolk, being President of the Country Music Festival for a couple of decades.

Kim plays electric guitar, sings vocals and keeps the crowd going for many hours. Some photos from early days on Norfolk capture the life of Kim, from riding a Bull or Horse to school, playing outdoors in the compound in shorts and no shirt or flared bottom trousers. His mother Maev Hitch is an elder of Norfolk who has partaken in keeping Norfolk culture alive. Maev taught Norfolk Tahitian Dancing to the younger community through the 80’s and 90’s. Kim never took to dancing, however his sister Karlene Christian did.

Being an active member of the community and also a family man Kim has four children, Shannon, Carli, Ronan and McKenzie. The family lost Shannon in 2009, he was an amazing host, loved hospitality and was a sort after worker. Ronan is currently living off Island near the Hawksbury in NSW and he is an exceptional Golfer and remains focused on becoming a Golf Pro one day as this has been his childhood dream for some time. Carli is owner of a company here on Norfolk Island,
Island Concierge organising personalised retreats, weddings and tailor made functions. Carli lived off Norfolk for 12 years on Lord Howe Island and in Sydney where she was employed at Specialist Holidays as Specialist Travel Consultant for the South Pacific. Wife Christen works for Travel Centre as a Travel Consultant and Kenzie is 5 years of age, starting school at Norfolk Island Central School. Each of Kim’s children has exceptional talents in many areas, each of their own personalities shine through their passion in each area and Kenzie has become quite the entertainer loving singing and dancing.

Kim encouraged his eldest children to partake in the last years of schooling off Norfolk, Shannon was at Hurlstone Agricultural High School, Carli embarked to St Margarets Anglican Girls School in Ascot, Brisbane, Ronan completed his last years at Recliffe, QLD after being sort after by a visiting Golf Pro who came to Norfolk for the Hardy’s Classic.

Travelling was an extensive part of his role wi
th Norfolk Telecom when implementing new telecommunications to Norfolk. Some of the best trips Kim has ever embarked don was travelling on a yacht through the Whitsundays with best friends; one to mention was ‘Lettuce’ Les Quintal. These two characters when together have many of stories to tell and many of laughs for hours on end.

Kim’s a family home here on Norfolk, is made of Norfolk Pine at Steels Point area, it will be handed down through the generations of his family and the generations to come. His Grandchildren Aurora is on Norfolk and his other two grandchildren reside in Melbourne.
