Kay Greenbury enjoys quilting and her “Kingston Pier” quilt has been chosen as a finalist at the Houston international quilt competition "Quilts - A World of Beauty 2016”, which is being held in Texas, America.

Kay entered her “Kingston Pier” quilt in the international quilt festival in Houston “Quilts - A World of Beauty 2016” earlier this year.

She sent photographs of her amazing quilt and the “Kingston Pier” quilt has been chosen as a qualifying quilt to be entered into exhibition.  Kay’s quilt will be posted to Houston, USA and the adjudicators will judge the entries.

The “Houston Quilt Festival” will be held in November 2016.  Check out their internet site for more details.

Kay created her quilt in 2015 and it is a stunning image of our Norfolk Island historical Kingston Pier.  It took Kay about 40 hours to design and make “Kingston Pier” quilt.

It was inspired by a photo that Rob Nisbet had on display in the window of the 2899 Gallery in the Mall, when it was open.  Kay said “I saw it every day, loved the photo and thought I could do something with it”.

Kay exhibited the “Kingston Pier” quilt in the October 2015 “Quilt Norfolk Fifth Getaway Exhibition” at the local Norfolk Island RSL.

At the 2015 Norfolk Island A & H Show, Kay displayed this special quilt in the Rawson Hall on show day and she was one of the judges for the quilting section.

Kay is a member of the local quilters group, Quilt Norfolk.  They organise two Norfolk Island quilt retreats every year.  Check out the internet site about the Norfolk Island events

We wish Kay all the best in the exciting competition "Quilts - A World of Beauty 2016”.  It is great to see Norfolk Island on the International Stage.
