Hi Alison, just a short note to wish you and the Norfolk Islanders best wishes for Christmas  and the New Year. I enjoy the online news- particularly the history and natural science articles. Also I find particularly interesting the diversity of points of view on political issues by your readers. I have attached a painting of one of the  island coastlines that I completed but did not note down where it was. Does it look recogniseable? Cheers Ian Forman

Greetings for Christmas and the New Year to all Norfolk Online readers from Peter and Boni Maywald.

2017 has been a difficult year for all true democrats in Norfolk Island who have bravely resisted the excesses of the Commonwealth takeover. We share your grief at the abolition of self-determination in your beautiful island, which we miss so much. We are inspired by your determination to recover your rights and to defend the community from the cuts in services and higher taxes imposed by ignorant and mendacious Australian politicians; self-important overpaid Canberra bureaucrats; and voracious and greedy consultants, all of whom are milking the Island community and business sectors dry with a willful disregard for the public good. Congratulations in particular to Chris Nobbs for his tireless efforts to expose the hypocrisy, lies and greed of the Commonwealth which is so damaging to Norfolk Island.

We encourage you to continue your principled resistance in 2018 and to redouble efforts to persuade the United Nations to supervise a genuine act of self-determination. We will continue to lobby politicians here in Canberra to provide a proper level of fiscal support for NI programmes and services. If they allocated just a small proportion of the $100 million wasted on a "voluntary postal survey," they could underwrite NI budgets for many years.

We trust that you will enjoy Christmas with your friends and families, and that 2018 will be a year of achievement and satisfaction for you all.

Peter and Boni Maywal

Graeme and Shirley Henderson wish everyone on Norfolk Island a Very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.

To our audiences, actors, helpers, sponsors and Festival participants – we wish you all a very Happy Christmas and look forward to entertaining you in the New Year.  From everyone in NATS.

that Norfolk Island Shipping and Celtic Shipping Wish All a Very Merry Christmas and a Safe & Happy New Year.

Wishing all of our supporters a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for 2018.

Thank you for all the time, effort and support all of you have shown over the last year. We hope that 2018 will bring a new sense of strength and unity to all those on Norfolk Island and abroad who wish, hope and fight for Self-Determination to be achieved for the Norfolk Island People.

We look forward to working constructively with the new Minister.  This is a great opportunity for Canberra to ensure the political, economic, social and educational advancement of the Norfolk Island people, undertake to consult genuinely, and take due account of our political aspirations.

It is important to remember that factors such as size, location, size of population and limited natural resources should not delay our fundamental human right to self-determination.
