The recent trip to London by NIPD and Council of Elders representatives was apparently well received by a small group of British MP's. That's all very nice, but where does it go from here, what is the object of the exercise. The motion referred to by Andre Nobbs was supported by a handful of MP's. It doesn't have British Government support so it does not appear to advance the NIPD/Council of Elders cause and it is not clear to me and to many on the island, just what the cause is. Geoffrey has waded in seriously in New York (I'm referring to the Robinson QC Geoffrey here) and presented a case on behalf of the people of Norfolk Island to the UNHCR, claiming the Australia has trampled over our rights. We also see in the press this week that the UNHCR has not communicated this issue to the Australian Government. I suppose that in the scheme of things NI is small beer to the Brits and the UN. It would be good to see some sort of statement from UNHCR on how they handle this and also more of the other angle, the non self governed territory self determination bid. Any news to share?

Try to at least get the QC's name right. He is Geoffrey Robertson.

Hey Morepork!

For those who don't 'do' Norfolk Online - may I copy and paste "LONDON, NEW YORK - NEXT STOP BEIJING" to Facebook?

Cheers,

Narta.
