Breast Screening Clinic

Dear Editor

I would like to personally thank all who were involved and instrumental in getting a Breast Screening clinic and a mammogram machine here on Norfolk Island.  To Tracy, Dale and the Alice Buffett Trust who for the past 20 years have been trying to have this for our Norfolk Women. Also thanks to the others in the past 3 years who have also assisted in getting the machine and breast clinic on Norfolk.

Its an amazing achievement and one that we all appreciate. I am so proud of your efforts, your persistance, support and vision. Thanks must also go to the donors over the years as well.

I hope many of you ladies had your mammogram this week, or that you check your breasts yourself on a regular basis. Early detection is the best advantage, so get to know your breasts but any concerns see your GP immediately.

Being a breast cancer survivor from 2012 I am so pleased for the women of Norfolk to now have access to a mammogram.

Yours sincerely

Tracey Sweeney

GP Clinic

Health History Update Questionnaires

When you next visit the GP Clinic you will be asked to complete a Health History Update Questionnaire.  These are to us in maintaining accurate information on your medical record and therefore assist the GP with your consultation.  Please arrive for your appointment 5 minutes prior to your appointment to allow time to complete the questionnaire.  We thank you for your assistance in this important task

All patient information will be treated as confidential.

Hours of Operation

The GP Clinic is open from 8.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 4.30pm Monday to Friday.  Please note the clinic is closed for lunch from 12.30 – 1.30pm.  Please call for appointments only during opening hours.

When you next visit the Clinic you will be asked to complete this form which should only take a few minutes.  Please arrive a few minutes prior to your appointment time so that you can complete the form.

How long should you book your appointment for?

Most appointments with your GP only require 15 minutes.  If you have multiple issues or you think they are complex and will require extensive discussion, please let our receptionist know that you would like a long appointment. This will ensure you have the time needed with your GP and will assist us in managing the GPs time and patient flow.

Appointments with the Nurse

On arrival at the clinic do not go directly to see the Nurse (to what was known as Outpatients), please make yourself known to our receptionist.   Appointments are required for all non-urgent visits to the Nurse.  In most cases you will also need an appointment with the GP.  This includes ear syringing, blood pressure readings and immunisations.

All emergencies will be reviewed by a Nurse prior to being seen by a GP.

Please notify us as soon as you can if you are unable to make your appointment time.  This allows us to offer the time to another patient.   A quick phone call if you are running late also allows for better management of our patient times.
